Most travel apps that include entry requirements have two critical problems: they require an internet connection to display the information, and they show generic rules that aren't filtered to your specific passport.
Generic rules are misleading. "Japan: 90 days visa-free" is true for US and UK passport holders but not for all nationalities. An app that shows you the most common rule without knowing your passport can give you false confidence.

ETIAS (European Travel Information and Authorisation System) is the EU's pre-travel registration system, similar to the US ESTA or Australia's ETA. It is expected to launch in late 2026 and will apply to travelers from 59 visa-exempt nationalities — including the US, UK, Australia, and Canada — entering the Schengen Area.
ETIAS is not a visa. It is a €7 online registration that takes a few minutes, is valid for 3 years, and must be obtained before you board. It does not change the 90/180-day Schengen limit — it is an additional pre-travel step.
